Duas of the Prophets
Their words as the Quran kept them — Adam to Isa — then the duas of the Messenger ﷺ from the Book and the sahih Sunnah.
آدم عليه السلام
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.
Quran 7:23Open the ayah
نوح عليه السلام
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ
My Lord, forgive me, my parents, whoever enters my house as a believer, and the believing men and believing women.
Quran 71:28Open the ayah
نوح عليه السلام
رَبِّ أَنزِلْنِي مُنزَلًا مُّبَارَكًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْمُنزِلِينَ
My Lord, land me at a blessed landing-place, and You are the best of those who bring to land.
Quran 23:29Open the ayah
إبراهيم عليه السلام
رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Our Lord, accept from us. You are the Hearing, the Knowing. Said as he and Ismail raised the foundations of the House.
Quran 2:127Open the ayah
إبراهيم عليه السلام
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ. رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ
My Lord, make me one who establishes the prayer, and from my children. Our Lord, accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me, my parents, and the believers on the Day the account is established.
Quran 14:40–41Open the ayah
إبراهيم عليه السلام
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
My Lord, grant me wisdom and join me with the righteous.
Quran 26:83Open the ayah
لوط عليه السلام
رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ
My Lord, save me and my family from what they do.
Quran 26:169Open the ayah
يوسف عليه السلام
فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
Originator of the heavens and the earth, You are my protector in this world and the next. Take me as a Muslim, and join me with the righteous.
Quran 12:101Open the ayah
أيوب عليه السلام
أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Harm has touched me, and You are the most merciful of those who show mercy.
Quran 21:83Open the ayah
يونس عليه السلام
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have been of the wrongdoers. The dua of the fish. Allah said He saves the believers with it.
Quran 21:87Open the ayah
موسى عليه السلام
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
My Lord, expand my chest for me, make my task easy, and untie the knot from my tongue so they understand my speech.
Quran 20:25–28Open the ayah
موسى عليه السلام
رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي
My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me.
Quran 28:16Open the ayah
سليمان عليه السلام
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
My Lord, move me to thank You for the blessing You gave me and my parents, to do righteous work that pleases You, and admit me by Your mercy among Your righteous servants.
Quran 27:19Open the ayah
زكريا عليه السلام
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ
My Lord, grant me from Yourself good offspring. You are the Hearer of supplication.
Quran 3:38Open the ayah
عيسى عليه السلام
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا أَنزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدًا لِّأَوَّلِنَا وَآخِرِنَا وَآيَةً مِّنكَ ۖ وَارْزُقْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ
O Allah, our Lord, send down to us a table from the sky to be a festival for the first of us and the last of us, and a sign from You. Provide for us — You are the best of providers.
Quran 5:114Open the ayah
محمد ﷺ
رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَل لِّي مِن لَّدُنكَ سُلْطَانًا نَّصِيرًا
My Lord, cause me to enter a true entrance and to leave a true leaving, and grant me from Yourself a helping authority.
Quran 17:80Open the ayah
محمد ﷺ
رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
My Lord, increase me in knowledge.
Quran 20:114Open the ayah
محمد ﷺ
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْوَهَّابُ
Our Lord, do not let our hearts swerve after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. You are the Giver.
Quran 3:8Open the ayah
محمد ﷺ
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the next, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. The dua he ﷺ used most.

محمد ﷺ
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from inability and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى، وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
O Allah, I ask You for guidance and piety, for self-restraint and sufficiency.

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَىٰ ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You well.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَىٰ عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي، فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
The master of seeking forgiveness. Whoever says it in the morning, certain of it, and dies that day, is of the people of the Garden.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ
O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this world and the next.
