أصول الفقه

Usul al-Fiqh

How a ruling is born from the Book and the Sunnah — not a fatwa

Furu is the ruling you live: this is fard, this is haram, this is how you pray. Usul is the craft that got you there. Without usul, fiqh is a pile of answers. With it, you can see why Abu Hanifah, Malik, al-Shafii, and Ahmad sometimes stood in different places — and why they still prayed behind one another.

The four agreed on the spine: the Quran, the Sunnah, ijma, and qiyas. They differed on the weight of a lone report, the practice of Madinah, istihsan, and what a companion’s fatwa does when the text is quiet. Nur maps that spine in plain English. A living teacher still has to walk it with you.
