Dawud and Sulayman

داود وسليمان عليهما السلام

Dawud was given kingship and wisdom and the Zabur. The mountains and the birds echoed his tasbih. Sulayman inherited him. The wind was made to run for him. The jinn worked under his eye. He understood the speech of birds. The Quran tells the ant, the hoopoe, and Bilqis — the queen of Saba — without turning it into a romance.

When Sulayman died, the jinn kept working until a creature of the earth ate his staff and he fell. They knew then that the unseen was not theirs.

The ring, the flying carpet as a children’s cartoon, and the rest — not in the Quran, not in Bukhari. Leave them.
