The Saqifah, the army of Usamah, the people who withheld zakah, the ridda, Yamamah, the gathering of the Quran. Tabari is a chief source for the ridda campaigns. The sahihayn confirm Abu Bakr’s khilafah and the collecting of the mushaf under him, as Zayd later told it.
Abu Bakr said: By Allah, I will fight whoever distinguishes between salah and zakah. Zakah is the right of wealth. By Allah, if they withheld from me a young goat they used to give the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would fight them for it.

Umar pointed to the dead of Yamamah and the Quran in the breasts of men. Abu Bakr charged Zayd ibn Thabit. Zayd said: by Allah, had they charged me with moving a mountain it would not have been heavier. Then he gathered it from palm-stalks and the chests of men.

How to weigh this
Ridda-lists and the names of false prophets are Tabari’s strength. Some campaign-details come on single roads. The decision of Abu Bakr to fight is sahih, and it saved the salah and the zakah as one din.
