وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَٰكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ
They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it was made to appear so to them.

Isa son of Maryam

Tabari reports the birth, the cradle, the table, the disciples, and the raising — as the Quran reported them — then the claims that later Christians made, which he records to refute. He is a Muslim historian writing under ayahs that already closed the file: Isa was not killed, and he is the servant of Allah.
The Prophet ﷺ said: the prophets are paternal brothers; their mothers are different and their religion is one. I am the closest of people to Isa son of Maryam.
