Wahidi — why it came down

Ali ibn Ahmad al-Wahidi gathered the reports of why an ayah was sent. That is not a full tafsir. It is the scene around some ayahs. Many ayahs have no such report. When a report exists, Nur shows Wahidi’s English under the ayah as a Tafsir button. Shan-e-Nuzul and tafsir are not the same thing: one is the occasion, the other is the meaning.

If an ayah has no occasion-report, Wahidi will be empty. That is normal. Try Ibn Kathir.
